skool

I was dragged there in innocence

ancient red brick  castle

surrounded by black iron spikes

so many children

all ages bigger smaller

thrown into this lions den

of fierce teachers whose smiles

held venom spat into faces

I felt a ghost within this snake pit

never quite understanding my purpose

any sense of place

just another arena for punishment

tried to hide as best I could

to be wrested out into the light

of wrong, wrong, do it again

ridicule & peer pressure

though these too were scared to speak

in case of wrong wrong do it again

no encouragement excepting of pain

& I never wanted to be there

but push me in was all everyone did

never caring or understanding the fear they made
