they never get it

I liked Bob

he was my mechanic

& before after he fixed stuff

we’d talk over the world

he was one of those guys

liked to think

played his cards close to his chest

& each time he’d tell the story

just a little bit different

add embellish subtract details

in the he said I said we dids

forgetting each time he’d told

me different before

& I’d listen compare contrast

the versions

he never got that I could do this

my skills were never a consideration

he was the mechanic the man

& all must bow before
